As part of the Graphics and Advertising course, all students were given the task of either redesigning an existing packaging product or developing a completely new product. We had the choice of realising this either alone or in a team. I decided in favour of teamwork with Carina Eglhofer in order to gain additional experience. This is how our on&on project came about—an innovative period hygiene product. Our aim was to create a more functional and environmentally friendly solution. The idea was to design a refillable sanitary pad dispenser that also serves as a decorative element in the bathroom. The dispenser was designed in the form of a cube in which a new roll of pads can be stored. The function of the sanitary roll is similar to a sticker roll. We also developed two additional strengths of the product. The main goal of the project was to combine a sustainable concept with an appealing design that makes the dispenser a decorative element in the bathroom. To achieve this, we designed three different patterns, each assigned to a particular pad thickness. The thicknesses are also distinguished by different colour gradations. It was important to us to make the product both friendly and gender-neutral. We therefore chose a chameleon as a design element, whose spiral tail symbolises the refillable pads. The brand name on&on reflects the round, clean and simple shapes of the product and emphasises its functionality and aesthetics.
